当代随一に位置づけられるサウンド・アーティストの一人としてもくされるラシャード・ベッカー。ベルリンを拠点に、世界中のエクスペリメンタル／アブストラクト・ミュージックのネットワークと密接に関わりながら、自身のコンポジションを築きあげてきた。
世の音響現象と音色に対する深淵な知識によって生みだされる、興味深いリズムと高密度のハーモニーは、それが社会学への理解から成り立っていることを明確に指し示している。
2013年に発表されたデビュー・アルバム『Traditional Music For Notional Species』においては、Pitchforkでも「エレクトロニックなサウンドでありながらシンセやトーンがまるで動物のうめき声や窒息音のように蠢いており、恐ろしいまでにオーガニックな形態へとまとめあがった、強固なエクスペリメンタル体験」と評されるなど、そのソロとしての評価を決定づけている。

Rashad Becker is considered one of the world’s most esteemed contemporary sound artists. Based in Berlin, and closely affiliated with the international experimental and abstract music network, he builds his compositions using his profound ear for worldly sonic accents and instrumental timbres to create rhythmically intriguing and harmonically dense sound narratives that are inspired by social theory. Rashad’s solo output is typified by his widely acclaimed 2013 debut album, Traditional Music For Notional Species, which Pitchfork de-scribed as a, “solidly experimental affair, pushing electronic sounds into terrifyingly organic shapes as whir-ring synths and garbled dial tones morph into on animal-like grunts and chokes”

ヨーロッパ、アメリカを主に活動するニューヨーク出身のアーティスト。Minimal noise、Sci-fi droneと呼ばれている彼女の暗く官能的なNYの夜をイメージした作品はUKの Opal tapes、L.I.E.S. （シカゴのSvengalisghostとのコラボレーションでShadowlust名義）等から発表されている。今回はソロ名義51717での来日。

東京都新宿出身／sludge-tapes主宰。2007年からライヴ活動を開始。Technoise meets Industrialなオリジナリティーのあるサウンドとハードウェアオンリーの独自のライブスタイルで数々の来日アーティストのフロントアクトとしても活躍。2010年、OPTRON奏者・伊東篤宏とのユニット“ultrafunctor”を経て、2011年には自身のレーベル、sludge-tapesを立ち上げ1stEPリリース。2012年、HEADZよりリリースのsuzukiiiiiiiiii×youpy『sxy』にremix収録。2013年、daen V.A 「inner tape」、Steven Porterとのスプリットであるsludge005「Restored / Waste」をリリース。2014年、6月にshotahiramaとのスプリット「clampdown」をリリースの他、海外レーベルよりvinlyリリースも控えている。

ChrisはMNML SSGSの創始メンバーの１人で、ブログが完結してからも東京でMNML SSGSとしてパーティーオーガナイズをしている他、Sound Gardenというチルアウトパーティーのレジデントを務めています。アンビエント、ダウンビート、エクスペリメンタル、シンセミュージックなどのサウンドを軸に、斬新でパワフルな音楽をプッシュしながらMNML SSGSの美意識を貫いています。

Chris SSG is one of the founders of the MNML SSGS blog. In recent years he has been organizing MNML SSGS parties in Tokyo, and is a resident at the Sound Garden chill out parties. As a DJ he focuses mainly on ambient, downbeat, experimental sounds and synth music. Chris continues to advance the distinctive MNML SSGS aesthetic by presenting unique, interesting and powerful music that he believes should be heard.
