The duo of Max Eilbacher & Duncan Moore (Headband) is interested in perception and form through sound and movement. Both of which are utilized as a means to transform the topography of a live performance. Eilbacher creates sonic systems in which synthesis and processing-intensive software generate complex patterns and timbres that are subject to the guide of compositional intuition. His praxis squares the circle of the raw moment and the controlled display of an outcome. Moore\u2019s sonic language parallels his use of physicality and movement, sometimes collapsing into comedic antics or seemingly disruptive situations. These moments intrude on and challenge the assumed formalities and rules of live music performance. The duo’s creative practice draws from such disparate sources as abstract computer music and gestalt clowning techniques.<\/p>\n
